The present proposal  provides a variety of social and economical advantages to the European Community, it will reinforce the collaboration among European scientists and laboratories and will contribute to establish a European scientific identity. The major European economical and social advantages resulting from the present proposal  originate from its unique composition and primarily consist in:

1. Innovative aspects in basic science possibly leading to a better understanding of neuronal implants, plasticity and CNS diseases.
2. Excellent opportunities for education and training and dissemination of the scientific results, because of the participation in this proposal of scientists already committed to teaching and lecturing.
3. Enhanced employment prospects for participants in this project.
